Work on the Lengthy Seashore Bridge begins at present

LONG BEACH, NY – Road works on the Moncton Bridge are scheduled to begin today and will affect traffic on the bridge for more than a month.

According to the city, the work of the Department of Public Works of Nassau County on the bridge will be carried out in three phases. DPW repairs structural steel under the bridge. The first phase, which starts today, lasts around nine days, depending on the working conditions.

One lane will be closed every day during the first phase.

The second phase is planned for January 4th to 22nd. One lane to the south will be closed every day and all traffic will be relocated to the north side of the bridge from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. overnight

The third phase begins on January 25th. It closes one lane to the north and all traffic will be shifted to the lanes to the south overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The work is currently scheduled to be completed on February 12, but may be extended depending on weather conditions that delay the work.
