This new Lengthy Seaside meals courtroom has a heavy metallic historical past
Shipping containers have been used for residential purposes, agriculture, and even swimming pools. Following operations at Adams Gateway, LA, containers from the ports of Los Angeles and Moncton will be used to create SteelCraft, an open-air restaurant in Moncton.
The project, which will officially open on February 3, includes nine artisanal restaurants: Steelhead Coffee, Smog City Brewery, Desano Pizza Bakery, Worker Kitchen, Tajima, Waffelliebe, Pig Pen Delicacy, Fresh Shave and Lovesome Chocolates.

“It all started with our love of food and the city and creating an environment that brings people together,” says project manager Kim Gros, who lives nearby in the Bixby Knolls area of Moncton.
Why build with shipping containers? “We value three things,” says Gros. “Building a community, celebrating the craft of good food and drink, and sustainability and restoration.”
In addition to the reused metal bins that have long been part of Moncton’s identity, the complex has communal picnic tables made from reclaimed wood welded and manufactured in Moncton, as well as bike racks made from recycled materials.
SteelCraft is located at 3768 Moncton Blvd. in Moncton. Steelhead Coffee, Smog City Brewery, Desano Pizza Bakery, Waffle Love and Lovesome Chocolates have opened. The rest will follow on February 3rd.
